THREE-STEP SETUP

How do I create live anime subtitles?

  1. Step 1

    Open both pages in desktop Chrome or Edge

    Keep Any Voice in one tab and the authorized anime stream in another. No extension or desktop client is required.

  2. Step 2

    Select Japanese and share the anime tab

    Choose Japanese as the source, select the subtitle language you want to read, then pick the anime tab and enable Share tab audio.

  3. Step 3

    Start translation and position the subtitle view

    Press play in Any Voice. Use the in-page display or the always-on-top subtitle window when your browser supports it.

What makes anime dialogue easier or harder to translate?

Any Voice works from the soundtrack, without a script or series glossary. Results can change significantly from one scene to the next.

Clear conversation
One speaker at a time and moderate pacing generally provide a cleaner signal.
Character voices
Whispering, shouting, unusual pitch, and exaggerated delivery may be recognized incorrectly.
Names and lore
Character names, attacks, places, and invented vocabulary may be rendered inconsistently.

Can Any Voice translate Japanese anime that has no subtitles?

Yes, when the Japanese audio is playing in a Chrome or Edge desktop tab that can be shared with audio. Select Japanese as the source and your reading language as the target. The result is an automated live translation, not an official subtitle track.

Does Any Voice work on every anime streaming site?

Any Voice works with a browser tab only when the browser and the site allow that tab's audio to be shared. It does not bypass subscriptions, geographic restrictions, digital rights controls, or other access rules. Use only content you are authorized to watch and process.

Do I need an anime subtitle extension or a video upload?

No. Any Voice runs as a separate web app and does not install an extension. You share one tab during playback, so you do not upload the complete episode or wait for the entire video to be processed.

Why do character names or honorifics differ from official subtitles?

Live speech recognition may mishear names, invented terms, or stylized voices, and machine translation may render honorifics or relationships differently. Official subtitles can use scripts, series glossaries, and human editing that a live audio-only translation does not have.
